How we plan to keep you safe.
San Diego Bayfest continues to closely monitor the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, and plans to follow safety protocols as required by the CDC, state and local officials.
The safety of our guests is our primary concern. Taking that into consideration, our 2021 festival initial safety plans are below. As new technologies are made available and new protocols to keep us safe are released, our processes to keep attendees as safe as possible may change.
Per current National, California and Local guidance, we plan on requiring one of the following in order to gain access at the gate in addition to wearing a mask:
1. Proof of Vaccine
2. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test within the last 3 days and a signed statement assuring us and all other festival-goers that you’ve remained quarantined since taking that test.
3. If neither of those are available we will have rapid tests available for purchase at the gate.
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any place where people gather. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. By purchasing a ticket, you assume all risks, hazards, and dangers arising from or relating in any way to the risk of contracting COVID-19 or any other communicable disease or illness, or a bacteria, virus or other pathogen capable of causing a communicable disease or illness, whether occurring before, during, or after the event, however caused or contracted, and voluntarily waive all claims and potential claims against the City and County of San Diego, the Event Organizers, and their affiliated companies relating to such risks. You expressly agree to comply with all Federal, State, and Local laws, ordinance, regulations, and the rules of the Event Organizers when attending the event.
Will attendees have to wear masks throughout the event?
YES. At this point it’s too early to tell when California will lift our mask mandate, a mask will be required at all times when not eating or drinking.
If we’re sick that weekend or test positive for COVID-19 what do we do about our tickets?
If you reach out to us prior to the festival to let us know you’re sick, we will refund your ticket in the form of store credit. This will allow you to purchase festival passes for a future event date. After the festival starts, all tickets will become non-refundable if we haven’t received an email to [email protected] addressing your sickness.
How likely is it that festivals are allowed to happen by July?
We think very likely. This comes from months of conversations with local and state officials, watching declining Covid cases in Southern California as well as a rapid increase in vaccinations which makes us very hopeful for a return of large scale outdoor gatherings by July 2021. The data surrounding an outdoor music festival like ours has shown us that it can be done safely and responsibly.
What if we feel sick during the festival?
We’ll have a first aid tent at the festival and it will be equipped with COVID tests if needed. We will take refunds on a case-by-case basis in this situation.
What other things might you do to keep us safe?
While we will continually update our plans for COVID Safety we are considering the following:
– Larger gate areas for traffic to remain spaced out
– Implementing a sanitation team for high-touch areas
– Sanitation stations placed throughout the festival
– Temp checks offered at entry-ways and gates
